9-14-2012 5QF

It's the beginning of birthday week here in our house. Baby Bug's party is tomorrow, his bday is Sunday. And Love Bugs bday is next Saturday, and her party is on Sunday. Its a long 8 days around here! Well, lets get started with Mama M's Five Question Friday shall we?

1. How long did it take for you to find your wedding dress? (Wedding dress pics anyone?) Well J and I got engaged on Christmas Eve 2001. I was completely surprised, even though we had been dating for only 9 years. Yes, YEARS! But at this point, we had bought a house together, got a dog, and knew we were going to get married, just didn't know when.

Little did I know, he had this planned for a long time. My parents were in on it, he had gone and asked them and everything. His parents were in town, and his dad knew, but not his mom. She can't keep a secret! :)

Anyway, so he proposed, I of course said yes, and then for some reason, we decided it had to be a date related to 13. So that leaves the 13th or the 26th. And I wanted a spring wedding. Well, 15 months later, we found a Saturday, in the Spring, on the 26th!

We booked the church and the reception site first, and then waited a while before we did much else. Then about that summer, my mom and sister and I booked a couple of appointments to see some wedding dresses. We went to a store in Fort Worth, and found nothing. The next weekend we had 3 appointments at 3 different locations in Dallas. The first was The Bridal Portfolio. I tried on probably 6 different dresses, and as soon as I put mine on, it literally, took my breath away. It was perfect. I tried on about 3 more just to make sure, but knew that was THE DRESS. (see below). To the point that we even called the other stores and cancelled our other appointments.

I never thought that an off the shoulder dress with tulle would be my thing. EVER. To the point I even told the lady I didn't want to try it on. But she assured me it looked better on than on the hanger. Was so glad I listened!

So the answer (finally) to the question is I found my dress in the second store I went into.

2. Someone in your general vicinity releases a NASTY smelling fart. Do you say anything or blow it off?
If it's someone in my house, usually I know because they will claim it before I actually smell it.
In public, never make a peep, or bat an eye, or anything. Just hope nobody thinks its me!
3. What is the scariest thing that happened to you or scared you recently?
I honestly can't think of anything.  Luckily it's been a long time since I have been truly scared!
4. Favorite brand and flavor of ice cream.
Surprisingly, I'm not much of an ice cream fan. Cookies? yup. Cake? Yup. Candy bar? Oh yea! But ice cream? Not so much. But if I had to choose it would be Blue Bell Mint Chocolate Chip! It is SO yummy. When I do eat it. Which is like 3 times a year.

5. Are you able to sleep well in hotels?
Once I get to sleep, yes. I travel a lot (relatively), so once I fall asleep, I stay asleep. Most of the time, I keep the tv on, and then wake up at some point in the middle of the night and turn it off, and go right back to sleep.

I am usually so tired if I'm in a hotel because I have either been traveling, or working, or catching up on sleep I didn't get at home, that I am out like a light! And sleep (besides turning off the tv) all night!

Have a great weekend!

Is it reallythe last Friday before school starts? I am sooooo incredibly bummed! I really never thought I would be, but I am going to miss this time I have had with my girl. But so it is. So now I count down till May, and wait till she is home all over again.

So on to this weeks Five Question Friday! Jump on over to Mama M's and join in!

1. If you could have been (could be) any profession you wanted (brains and $$$ no problem) what would it be?

Without a doubt, a surgeon. I wanted to be a surgeon since high school, but I knew that I wasn't smart enough. Let me rephrase that. I would have really struggled. I don't think in the medical school itself classes, but the basics. Biology, chemistry. Those would have kicked my butt.
Everytme someone close to me has a medical situation. Or a show like NY Med, it really makes me wish I would have at least tried. My husband tells me I should go back and do it anyway, but I would be like almost 50 enforce I could actually start practicing.

Oh well, I will just always tell my kids don't ever Not Try because you don't think you can. At least try.
2. How often do you clean out your car?

Well, I try to do it weekly. If not, it gets so bad and seems to get 100x worse as each day goes by!
3.
Do you wish there was such a thing as fashion police or are you deeply relieved?

Honestly, not for myself, but oh my goodnight, for some people yes, there really should be!
4. What's your go to food/drink/activity when stressed?

Chocolate mousse and dr pepper. Or Crown if it's really bad,
5. If you had twins, what would you name them?

Boy/Girl: Austin and Audrey
And I have no other names left. Glad I'm. It having anymore children!

5qf (Sunday) Aug 19, 2012

Ugh! I'm so far behind! I k ow its Sunday, but we have had such a great weekend, blogging just wasn't a priority. The weather has been AMAZING!!!! Highs in the 80s both days, so we spent all weekend outside just soaking it up. My girl and her friends played all day, had snow cones, danced to Carly Rae Jepson, and had a great (almost) end of summer time! One. Re week and it's school time :(. I didn't honk I would be one of those moms who would be sad when school started.  I thought I would be ready for school to start and all. But I'm not. I like the ease of summer (even though it is messing up my gym time!)

Anywho, let's get this started!

1. What's the one thing you buy every time you walk into the store?

Well, if it's th grocery store? Fruit, bread, milk. Every time. Even if we don't need it. Target? Usually clothes. For somebody. Me or my kids. My husband does his own shopping so I don't ever buy him stuff.

2. If you had a day all to yourself how would you spend it?

. And mybe some shopping. But mainly just relaxing.
Sleeping, then lunch with friends, then probably a p. afternoon at the spa. Massage, facial, etc.

3. Are you a speed limit driver? If not, over or under?

100% over!! I very rarely go the speed limit. The only exception is a school zone. I never, ever, ever speed in a school zone. Mostly I go under.

4. What's your favorite dessert to make, homemade or from a mix??
I'm not really a dessert maker. I like them, but I am not very creative, so usually a box kinda girl is me. But I do love nestle toll house cookies, from scratch. But that's about it.

5. Would you rather have a spider or a mouse scurry across your face (no copping out and saying "neither!!")?
Ugh! Well since I have never had that happen, I am goi g to go with mouse. They are faster, and usually will just run not bite.
A spider might bite you. At least in mt mind that's how it works.

Ugh. Now that I am creeped out, I am going to sign off! Happy week y'all!

First and Foremost, Happy 44th Anniversary to my parents! Amazing, wonderful, inspiring!!

So Mama M decided to go on vacation, and all. Jees, how rude. But she did get the amazing and wonderful Kate to host this weeks Five Question Friday for her. So join in, its fun!!

1. What do you call them? Flip flops, thongs, sandals, etc.
Most of the time, I call them flippers. And if not flip flops. By best friend has always called them flippers and I can't remember when, but one day I noticed I did too!

Thongs are underwear, sandals are just shoes.

2. Are you a "My kid can do no wrong" kind of mom, or "Johnny hit me. Well what did you do first"

I think I am somewhere down the road. Baby Bug is a trouble maker. The sweetest trouble maker you will ever meet, but still a trouble maker. And most of the time, if he comes crying, its usually because Love Bug has done something to him. 99% of the time, what he did to her first.

Love Bug on the other hand is the opposite. She is a really good kid, and very rarely does anything wrong. Especially on purpose. She may do something on accident and not know it was wrong, but as far as hitting, biting, kicking, etc, usually she is on the taking end, not the giving end.

3. Would you confront a good friend who looks down on your husband/significant other?

Honestly, probably not. But what I would do is begin to separate myself from that friend. And usually I am a person who will confront somebody. I don't have a problem with that at all. But, if that person is looking down on my husband, they are in turn looking down on me. I don't expect everybody to like my husband, (shoot sometimes I don't even like him!! :) ) but, you are respectful of your friends, and their spouses. Fake it if you have to. We do that with friends who we like, but not their spouses. And that's ok.

4. What's your biggest pet peeve?
I think I have 2. Lying, and whining. Both just are unacceptable, and completely preventable. You choose to do both. So around me, don't do either!!

5. What's your favorite take out meal?
We have 2, Pizza and chinese.
Pretty much we get pizza every Thursday night.  And our favorite chinese food is located in town, so we dont' get that very often, but when we do, it is a treat!!

Alright, busy weekend ahead! Hope you all have a great one. Send your thoughts and prayers to those in Colorado. Awful, just awful!

5F 7-13-2012

Happy Friday! What a crazy week. After my BFF's son got injured, I took over care for her daughter (who is the same age as Love Bug), but it just meant I one more person to take care of. All good, love her to pieces, just a little unexpected. No worries though, that sweet boy is at home and recovering nicely. Going to be a long 4 weeks for him without his "feet leaving the ground". Drs orders.

Anywho, on to Mama M's Five Question Friday!

1. What's your view on men wearing sandals (yay or nay)? Nope. The only thing that is acceptable is flip flops. "Jesus" sandles? Hell no! Granoa looking sandles? Super hell no! Sandles with socks? Well that is just a hell to the freaking no!

2. What song do you love but are embarrassed to admit? Call Me Maybe. Shut up

3. What summer camp should they make for moms?  I think the same type they make for kids. Art camp, theater camp, cooking camps, sports camps. And most importantly spa camps. where we go and get pampered all week. Massages, body was, pedis, manis, facials, etc.

4. What is the most romantic song? (Not necessarily your favorite or your wedding song...) I was listening to my iPad last night and the Lionel Ritchie country compilation album was playing. While I had heard this one song a thousand times before in my life, for some reason, I realized that Lady, which was written by Lionel Ritchie and sung by Kenny Rogers, has tobe the sweetest, most heartfelt, loving song, I have ever heard.

5. Do you have an embarrassing pregnancy story? Sometimes I wish I did, but not I don't. No pee leakage, no boob leakage, no horrible pooping while pushing, even though I'm 100% sure I did. My pregnancies were very boring (until the end, but nothing embarrassing). Y'all know me, if I did, I would tell you!

Happy weekend. Taking it easy around here with a little swimming and that's about it. Was supposed to go out with my BFF, but I'm thinking she will wanna stay home and love on her boy, who is lucky all he ended up with is a concussion. And not a broken skull. Freak accidents, he wasn't even doing anything crazy, just hit a rock and flew over his handle bars. Hug your babies! Let em play, but keep em safe with helmets!!

5QF July 5,2012

TWO QUESTIONS?!?!?! TWO FREAKING QUESTIONS?!?!?!? That's right folks, Mama M picked not one, but 2 of my questions!! Score one (or 2) for me!

1. Is love at 1st sight possible?
You know, I used to think so. And I still think of something to that effect. But I don't think it is at first sight. I think maybe at first meeting. And maybe not necessarily love, but the fact that you know that that person will be someone important in your life, or will be a friend or more.

2. How did you choose your pet's name?
I honestly don't remember. We're we're just throwing around a bunch of names, and for whatever reason one of em stuck. We have dog, and she is 12 years old. Sweet, old girl. Not for sure how much longer she will be around.

3. What are you considering giving up (cable, home phone)?
Not really anything. We actually just added the movie channels to our satellite, only because they screwed up my bill, and gave us a whole bunch of channels for $5 a month for 6 months. After that, we will be dropping those movie channels.

4. How much do pay your babysitter?
$10 hour no matter if that is one kid or 2. We have 3 different babysitters that we use, and they range in age from 17-22 and we pay them all 3 the same, unless it is an overnight thing.

5. How "young" is old enough to babysit?
Well, I prefer mine to be at least 16. It helps for driving purposes. But I will allow them to be younger, if it is just my older one. She is pretty self sufficient and can take care of most of her own needs. We have a neighbor who has a 15 yo daughter, and I will allow her to babysit during the day, only if her parents are home as well.

Well, now y'all have a great weekend, it is Friday right? My days are all jacked up due to a holiday in the middle of the week!

5QF 6-29-12

It's Friday! And not just any Friday, Friday before a holiday, which is like extra special Friday!! And Mama M  picked one of my questions this week! Woo hoo!!

Let's get going!

1. What's your favorite childhood snack that you still eat as an adult?
Fudge Rounds, Swiss Cake Rolls, and Oatmeal Cream pies by Little Debbie. Do you have these? OMG, so incredibly good, and yet so bad for you at the same time!

2. What food will you not eat the low fat version of?
Lost of things. Most of the time, low fat is ofter worse for you as it has chemicals instead. I can't think of anything in particluar.

3. What's your favorite way to cool off during the summer?
With a cool beverage in a pool. Always relaxing and keeps me cool. But seeing as I don't have a pool, I don't get to do that very often.

4. What's your favorite summer read?
I don't have a certain Summer read, just a read in general. Yea, you guessed it. Fifty Shades. It's pretty much good anytime of the year. :)

5. What are you doing to stay cool in this awful heat?
Well, it isn't awful heat for us just yet. Its still normal summer heat. When it starts getting above 105, then it is awful. But either way, it is still hot. Mostly staying inside. Which drives my kids crazy, but lots of crafts, and popsicles make em happy!

Alrighty, go get your America on (unless you are Kate, and then you go get your Canada on I guess), and everybody have a great holiday!
