5QF 2/10/12

It's Girls Weekend!!! Woo HOO!! Once a year, my 5 Best Friends and I head out for a weekend getaway. No husbands, no kids, lots of alcohol, usually spa treatments, shopping, and just a great relaxing time. And today is the day! So excited!!! Don't look for to much of me till Sunday, except for maybe a little bit of Tipsy Tweeting!! :)

So lets get this party started!! Head on over to Mama M's and join in on the Five Question Friday!

1. How often do you shave your legs in the winter?
As often as I do every other time of the ear. Everyday, or at the very most, every other day. I don't like scratchy legs. Mine itch. Plus since I work out, I always have shorts or a skirt on, and nobody wants to see that!
 

2. Valentine's Day cards for your spouse: funny or romantic?

Well, a lot of times, we don't do cards. Sometimes we do, sometimes not. If we do, they are romantic.

We aren't much of a Valentines Day kinda couple. We never go out, even before kids. Usually we will just have a nice dinner at home. Now, we make it all about the kids.

3. What are you most looking forward to about spring?

Well, since we have had Spring since December, I'm not for sure. We did have some normal temperatures this week, like in the upper 40s and lower 50s, so that was pretty nice.

But, my most favorite thing in regards to Spring is baseball! LOVE LOVE LOVE me some baseball. Have since I was a kid. And what suprises most people, is that I understand, A LOT of it. I know how to hold a curve ball, a fast ball, a splitter, a knuckle ball. I know baseball terms, and use them in appropriate times. I know the difference in a K and a backwards K (one is swinging, one is not....did you know that).

How do I know all this you might ask? 3 ways

1)My dad took me to Rangers games ALL the time growing up

2)I was a Diamond Doll (bat and stat girl) in high school

3)My husband was a pitcher in college

Love some baseball! College season starts in 9 days! Can't wait!1

4. What's your favorite way to pamper yourself? (my question!!! SQUEEE)

Well, I have a few. Massage, and a facial. Love them. They are all about me, and nobody else. But I don't get them very often (except for this weekend) so they are a real treat.

Going to the grocery store, or Target, by myself, and able to walk up and down the aisles.

And finally, I love to vege out on the couch. And not worry about laundry, or dishes, or school project or anything else, and just watch tv. But that NEVER happens, so once in a blue moon, I will have my husband take the kiddos, even for 30 or 45 minutes, and go get the car washed, or something, just to give me a break. Makes all the difference in the world!

5. Does your tax return go into savings or do you spend it instantly?

Well, we don't get a tax return. When we did, we usually spent it.

5QF 1/27/12

Happy Happy Friday! We had so much fun at the Rodeo last week! Love Bug had never seen a rodeo and she absolutely loved it. We left Baby Bug at home with the babysitter, since I was afraid the dust and dirt would affect his tracheomalasia. Well, if not 2 days later a HORRIBLE dust storm blew through and screwed him up anyway. We should have taken him to the rodeo. He would have loved it. But luckily he is much better!

Anyway, on to this weeks Five Question Friday hosted by Mama M. I'm so incredibly excited because she picked one of my questions!!! Yipee!!! Anyway, join in and have some fun! On we go!

1. Do you swim in the winter?

Does a bathtub count? First, I'm not a huge swimmer anyway. I don't really do oceans because I have a fear of dying by lack of breathing. Which mean fire and water. Not being able to breath is a biggie of mine. I pretty much think it is required to live. So, being sucked under water by an under current is not my idea of fun. So I really don't do oceans that much....at least swim. I like lakes and pools, no undercurrent there. And I could touch the bottom. Well at least at lakes in Texas you can. Not sure about you Minnesooooota lakes though.

So, the answer to that question is No, I don't swim in winter. Only in the summer.
 

2. Do you love or hate winter?

Love, love love. See here in Texas, we don't get super cold. Usually we have 4 or 5 days where it doesn't get above freezing, and usually 3 or 4 days of winter precip. Usually light flurries or sleet, and maybe an ice day or two.

 

But this year, we haven't had squat. One day below freezing, no winter precip. Most of the temps have been in the 50s and 60s, and even a couple of 70s. WHAT??? I mean, I do love me a 67 degree day. Sunroof open, drinks on a patio. Ahhh perfection. But because we dont' get much winter, I would really love some. PLEASE? Before we get 70+ days of 100+ degrees again?

3. Do you put makeup/actual clothes on when you know you're going to be home all day with just family?

Not usually. Yoga pants is pretty much my go to on days when I don't leave the house. Gap or Lululemon to be precise. LOVE THEM!!! I do shower, but no makeup. Makes me feel like I am doing something good for my skin when I don't wear make up!

4. How old were you when you had your first alcoholic beverage?

Freshman in high school is what I remember. We had an older brother of a guy I was dating get us some wine coolers! Good stuff!!! Can't believe that now that I think about it. Jees.

 

5. How many ill calls in a 12 month period do you think are acceptable?

Well when I worked at my previous job, we really didn't have a certain amount, usually as long as I could log in with my computer, and I had my phone, it wasn't an issue. Most of the people I know have that same policy.

Being a mom though, I get NO sick days. EVER. EVER.

5QF 1/20/12

Yeeee Haww! Its Rodeo time in these here parts! So tonight, we are taking the youngins to the Stock Show and Rodeo to look at some animals being sold, lots of fried food goodness, and scary midway rides that arrive on a flat bed trailer! Should be so much fun!

I was hanging out in Nashville last week, which by the way, is SO cool! Loved it. Wanted to stay and do more, but 36 hours wasn't long enough. But I will go back. But I digress. I didn't get my 5QF post up last week, even though I promised Miss Kate that I would. Sorry Kate!

So here we go. One day, if you are lucky, I might figure out how to vlog it, and then I will try that!! But don't hold your breath.

1. Where do you hide the reeeally good snacks?

Well, it depends on who I am hiding them from. The kids? Back of the pantry or up high where they can't see. Husband? Most of the time he and I don't like a lot of the same snacks, so it's not really an issue. But I have been known to hide them in my closet on occasion.

2. Do u keep your vehicle clean or am I the only one who has things falling out of their van?

I got a new SUV about a year or so ago, and this one I keep clean. Its easier now that the kids are older too, I might add. My last car? Dirty, all the time. Toys, snacks, games, books, crayons, crap, everywhere. I hated it. Gross.

3. Have you ever been to Vegas?

Once, when I was 9, but that doesn't really count. So I will go with no. But, I think I am headed there this summer. Don't really care to much to gamble, I just want to go shop, party, have a great time.

4. Warm room light blankets or cold room warm snuggly blanket?

Cold room, snuggly blanket. I can't sleep if I'm hot, and I can't sleep if I'm cold, and I love to be all snuggled up, so cold in the room it must be. I didn't used to be that way, but my husband is much warmer natured that I am, so he likes it cold all the time, and we compromised on nighttime, where I could use an extra blanket if I got cold. I do. Every night. Even in the summer. Except when I am pregnant. Then get the freaking covers off of me!

5. What is the worst airplane/flying experience you've ever had?

Thankfully, I have never had one. Yes there have been turbulence issues, but nothing that has ever wigged me out. Except, our honeymoon. We went to Nova Scotia, Canada, and flew into Boston, and then took a puddle jumper into Halifax. Well, it was a real puddle jumper, and I remember thinking that I was going to die on my Honeymoon. But I didn't, and it was fine, just REALLY loud, and REALLY shaky. But again, nothing toooo serious.

 

Ok, gotta go get my boots on and get my cowboy hat on. Yes, I really have one, and yes, I do wear it. I know I'm from Texas and all, but most people are not boot wearing, nor have cattle on their property, but I am a country girl at heart, what can I say!!! Happy Friday Yall!!

Arrogance

So today, I had to go to a meeting, with a man, that I had heard some, anything but pleasant comments about. But I figured, guys treat guys differently than guys treat girls. Well, I was proved wrong. This man was a mean spirited, ugly, rude human being. One like I have never came across before.

This man, showed up 10 minutes late, even though he requested the time, and then brought me inside to his office, and put me in the conference room, where I thought he was going to get a bottle of water, or cup of coffee, as he had asked me if I would like some. I politely declined. He showed back up about 15 minutes later, and the entire time he was gone, I could hear him talking to other people, being ugly, degrading, cussing at some of his employees, telling them that things were not so hard, and it was simple, and if they couldn't figure it out, he would find someone who could.

Seriously?
A)What kind of boss talks to him employees that way?
B)What kind of employee stays and listens to that?

I understand that times are tough,and I have friends who are struggling to find work right now, but NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY deserves to be cussed at, or degraded like that in a work environment. I mean if we are being totally honest, nobody anywhere deserves to be treated like that.

He came back in, we discussed our business, where he basically showed me that his time was more important than mine, and that he was holier than thou, and deserved to have his feet and ass kissed.

Well, its gonna be done by somebody else. Not me. Jerk.

Happy First Friday of 2012! It is time for Mama Ms Five Question Friday. Join in the fun!

1. What is the weather like where you are and do you like it? Today, it was 74 degrees! Crazy!! Normally it is like 52 or something. It was nice and all, but I want winter!

2. When you're sick what do you seek comfort from?

I just like to lay on the couch and watch tv. By myself. Unless somebody is offering to bring me food. Then you are welcome. Other than that, kids, husband, everybody needs to leave me alone. For like 1 day. And then I am fine. Luckily, knock on wood, I don't get sick that often, at least nothing a little over the counter meds will not fix!

3. What do you need to do before the end of the month?

Um, well. Nothing specific. That I can think of. I paid my stupid freaking ticket today, so now I will not have a warrant out for my arrest, so that's good.

 

4. Have you ever served on a jury?

I have. Once. I get called for jury duty all the time, well I did when we lived in a different county. Seriously, every 2 years, on the dot. But we have lived in this county for 4 years and I haven't been called yet.

 

But I only got to serve once, it was a DWI case, and we found her guilty! Send her to the slammer for life! Not really, but we did find her guilty, and she got the minimum, as it was her first offense, and she was BARELY over.

5. If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?

Man these are hard questions this week. I have never been able to answer these questions.  I really have no idea. I suck. I'm sorry.

Five Question Friday 12/30/2012

Holy crap! Really, 2 days left in 2011? How is this possible?!?! I hope all of you have a VERY MERRY Christmas, and that 2011 has treated you well, and 2012 will be even better!!!

1. What's the oldest piece of clothing in your closet?

 Well, I found a pair of pants that I hadn't worn in 7 years last week! I was determined I would wear them again after children, and finally, on Christmas Eve, I did it! It was my own Christmas miracle!! I might have something as old as 10 years old, but nothing more than that.....I don't think. Or at least I don't want to admit if it do.

2. How many random blog readers have you met?

Sadly none, but I'm hoping there will be a Blogapalooza in TEXAS not Chicago, or anywhere else up North, soon!

3. Do you let your kids stay up till midnight on New Years Eve? (Or, if you don't have kiddos yet, did you get to stay up until midnight as a child?)

I wasn't allowed to stay up until I was probably 5 or 6. And last year, Love Bug made it until about 11:30 and then she crashed. If she can make it this year, I will let her, only because she doesn't have to go back to school till the 3rd, and we will still have 2 nights to get her back in her routine.

4. What are the gas prices where you live?

Filled up today, regular unleaded for $3.03 gallon

I'm sure Kate will say something crazy like a liter.

5. What is one resolution that you know you should do but are too afraid to try?

I'm not really afraid to try. But I wish I knew I would succeed at, is cooking healthier for my family. I do really good for lunch and breakfast, and my kids do as well, but dinner, I'm just not very creative at, so we eat a lot of the same thing over and over again.
